Catch The Rain – Support positive action in Pine River Watershed, and take positive action, by purchasing rain barrels

You are invited to partner with Pine River Watershed Initiative Network (PRWIN) to support a rain barrel fundraiser.

You may order a rain barrel directly on the Pine River Rain Barrel web page.

Rain barrels have many benefits to creeks, rivers and Lake Huron.

Rain barrels are a simple way for landowners to harvest rainwater. This helps people to meet water demands without taxing municipal drinking water systems or private wells. An added benefit is that this water is not running off the land where it could transport soil and pollutants into our storm sewers, creeks, rivers, lake, and drinking water sources.

Once rain barrels are installed, they can hold up to 220 litres of rainwater per storm event. This water can then be used to water gardens, plants, lawns and trees.

Capturing rainwater helps to conserve clean water, protect water quality, and can help save homeowners money.

Benefits of Rain Barrels:

  • Water conservation during peak summer months
  • Rainwater for watering lawns and gardens
  • Water from rain barrels is often softer and more beneficial for plants than tap water.
  • Contribute to healthier water and soil
  • High-quality, eco-friendly rain barrel to store rainwater

The PRWIN committee greatly appreciates community support which makes it possible for the Network to achieve its goals to deliver community tree programs and projects in the Pine River Watershed.

The deadline to order rain barrels is Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Pick-up is on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Ripley Huron Community Centre at 17 Queen Street from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
